Illustrator Jan Spivey Gilchrist, who illustrated many of Eloise Greenfield's books, including these award winning titles: THE GREAT MIGRATION (HarperCollins), IN THE LAND OF WORDS (HarperCollins) and WHEN THE HORSES RIDE BY (Lee and Low), is on blog talk radio early this evening. The Coretta Scott King Award winner for NATHANIEL TALKING (Writers & Readers), Jan is also the winner of the Zora Neale Hurston Award, the highest honor given by the National Association of Black Storytellers, Inc. and in 2016, she was honored with a 2016 Women That Soar Award. Jan's new books, WE ARE SHINING by Gwendolyn Brooks (HarperCollins) and THE THUMBTACK DANCER by Leslie Tyron (Alazar Press) will be coming out at the end of May 2017 and the beginning of August 2017, respectively.
