AASL announces that Illinois High School District 214 is named National School Library of the Year

We -- well, okay, I -- was pleased to learn that AASL (the Association of School Librarians) has named Illinois High School District 214 the National School Library of the Year. They are being recognized as the best school libraries in the nation. The reason I am especially pleased is that my sister-in-law, Katie Caraher Alexander, is among the school librarians recognized. In the photo above, she is seated on the far right with her hands folded on the table. And here below is the press release announcing the award.

Please join me and all the Balkin Buddies in congratulating Katie and all the other librarians honored!
