Eloise Greenfield's HONEY, I LOVE is on PBS News Hour's Summer Reading lists for young peopl

A couple of weeks ago, HONEY, I LOVE AND OTHER LOVE POEMS (HarperCollins) by Eloise Greenfield, was cited by Jason Reynolds, the National Ambassador for Young People's Literature, on the PBS NewsHour's program entitled 'Summer Reading lists for young people at a time of crisis.' "I think this might be one of the best picture books," Reynolds said, concluding his recommendation with these words: "it's just the best."

First published in 1978, HONEY, I LOVE AND OTHER LOVE POEMS was an ALA Notable Children's Book, a Reading Rainbow Selection and the winner of the 1990 George C. Stone Center for Children's Books' Recognition of Merit Award.

Ms. Greenfield's role in contributing to African American literature has been substantial. AFRICA DREAM (HarperCollins) won the 1978 Coretta Scott King Award, and no fewer than five of her books became Coretta Scott King Honor Books, including THE GREAT MIGRATION (HarperCollins): 2012; NIGHT ON NEIGHBORHOOD STREET (Penguin/Random House): 1992; NATHANIEL TALKING (Black Butterfly): 1990; CHILDTIMES: A THREE-GENERATION MEMOIR (HarperCollins): 1980; MARY McCLEOD BETHUNE (HarperCollins): 1978; and PAUL ROBESON (HarperCollins): 1976.

We hope you enjoy the PBS progam as well as all of Ms. Greenfield's books. For more information about her, go to Balkin Buddies.
